Welcome to my blog where I well keep you updated about my life in London studying at UCL!

Towards the end of September 2023, I will start a 1-year master programme in Health, Technology & Public Policy at University College London. On this blog, I will share experiences, insights, encounters and more about my life in London.

University College London ²

The Health, Technology and Public Policy MPA

I chose this programme at the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP) because of my interest for the role of research and science in policy making. It is politics that shapes coexistence and lays down rules. Once the goal has been set, orientation is needed. This is where research from social and natural sciences and humanities can contribute valuable insights. They describe phenomena, substantiate hypotheses and evolve permanently. They show scenarios and facilitate impact assessments. They illuminate broad, long-term perspectives. Researchers have a responsibility to make these tools available to society and policy-makers.

During the first term of my master, I will attend 4 courses: Evidence in Decision Making about the nature and role of evidence in the political process, Public Administration about the mechanisms and evolution of governmental processes, Policy Making about the cycle of agenda setting, formulation, legitimation, implementation, evaluation and maintenance and Foundations in Health, Technology and Public Policy focusing on health technologies, health innovations, health systems and public policy.

The year ahead

I am convinced an exciting year awaits me. A year full of encounters with inspiring people, intercultural experiences, daily life challenges, pub quizzes, surpises and probably many unknown unknowns. Let's be open-minded, spontaneous and patient - the rest will come by itself!
